Rob Duncan

Project Lead // Live Event Visual specialist // Programmer

Working over twenty years in professional live events has taught me many things, but one truism sticks out –the show must go on!This outcome-focused perspective means that I thrive on a tight timeline, and can rapidly iterate and collaborate to get to the end result.

I bring both a designer's eye and a technician's practical competency, and am comfortable working alone, in teams and with stakeholders inside and external to the company.

The event was held at One King West, a former Toronto bank building. The interior architectural finishes lent a sophisticated feel to the event. As the night went on, glitches and geometric aberrations began to appear, giving the event a more modern, party vibe.

Video projection, and moving lights were used to create two distinct settings.

This event made use of a custom LED wall that was installed in the venue. The entire show was designed with this in mind to accentuate the extra horizontal space, and respect both the room layout and the event budget. The resolution of this screen was low, so this became a design consideration.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.

“You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”
